The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Transportation Planner to support the development and implementation of aviation related projects, with a strong focus on unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and emerging air mobility technologies. The individual in this position should have a strong passion for aviation and regional development.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Implementing the Regional General Aviation and Heliport System Plan
- Collaborating with stakeholders for the North Texas Airspace Awareness Pilot program initiatives
- Coordinating the integration of sensor data for the Regional Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) system
- Collaborating with NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the FAA UAS Key Site efforts to advance unmanned aviation infrastructure
- Implementing efforts to integrate unmanned aviation aircraft, infrastructure, and policies across the region
- Engaging with stakeholders for the Fort Worths Department of Transportation (DOT) Smart Grant Phase 1 and 2 projects
- Developing plans for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) operations for larger scale events
- Coordinating monthly UAS Safety and Integration Task Force meetings
- Preparing and delivering oral presentations
- Coordinating regional workshops with educators, industry stakeholders, and policy officials to collaborate and share information in the field of aviation planning
- Monitoring and tracking developments in unmanned aviation grants, policies, and regulations
- Updating content for the North Texas UAS website (www.northtexasuas.com)
- Drafting correspondence, technical reports, and other documents
Required Skills
- Good communication, both verbal and written, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with team members, and present ideas
- Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in analytical, quantitative methods (aviation management, airspace management, transportation planning, etc.)
- At least one year of work-related experience
Starting Salary Range
Minimum of $54,009.00 - $64,810.80 annually
The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development. The planning area for transportation includes the 12 counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise. NCTCOG also serves as a designated recipient for Federal Transit Administration funds.
