Responsible for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive training and professional development program for the UTA academic advising community to ensure academic advisors have the tools and training necessary to advance advising excellence. Responsible for designing, implementing, and managing assessment initiatives within academic advising community, including basic data support functions. Ensure that academic advising services are effective and aligned with institutional goals and student success outcomes. Manages and creates materials relevant to the development of advising initiatives, including educational and marketing pieces aimed at faculty, staff and student navigation and utilization of advising and the student information system. Execute key events for the Maverick Advising Community like the annual advising awards and University Academic Advising Committee meetings..Collaborate with the academic colleges, academic advising community and key campus partners to develop, enhance, and maintain an academic advisor onboarding and continuing training curriculum utilizing NACADA's Core Competencies and CAS.This includes:Implementation of an advisor certification program.Working with campus partners to coordinate training for technology platforms and tools that support the advising community.Coordinating Maverick Advisors Reaching for Knowledge (MARK) training for new advising staff and ensuring that the curriculum incorporates NACADA standards, career development consideration, retention strategies, and belonging efforts.Coordinating MyMav (UTAand#x2019;s student information system) training and permissions for advising staff.Developing and implementing monthly advising professional development opportunities focusing on student success, advising issues and updated UTA policies and procedures.Facilitating professional development sessions, both in-person and online.Understand and use advising best-practices to develop and review training materials and offer accessible resources, including how-to documentation, digital advisor handbook/toolbox (both undergraduate and graduate), modules in Canvas (course management system), videos, and advisor resources webpage.Coordinate communication and programming to support the advising community.This includes:Managing the University Academic Advising Committee (UAAC) meeting processes and activities, including scheduling, agendas, and keeping minutes.Maintaining an updated list of advisors via list serve. Communicating and marketing of professional development offerings.Partnering with the UTA Advising Association (UTAAA) around the planning of monthly, campus-wide peer-led meetings.Coordinating with the Maverick advising community to utilize the AVP for Advising and Engagement conference travel funds.Oversee the creation and planning of the following annual events: Opening Meeting for the school year Advisor Awards and Recognition Ceremony (during NACADA advisor appreciation week)Coordinate data collection and reporting for training and professional development.Develop and maintain a comprehensive assessment plan for the academic advising program.Collaborate with academic advising staff, faculty, and administrators to identify assessment goals and objectives.Create assessment tools, surveys, and instruments to collect data on advising practices and student outcomes, including advisor assessment pieces for meetings and trainings.Pull data reports that support the advising community.Analyze data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement in the academic advising process.Use data analysis to inform decision-making and improve advising practices and training.Prepare and present regular reports on assessment findings to advising staff, faculty, and administrators.Utilize student feedback to recommend adjustments to the advising program and services.Manage the Experiential Major Maps and Degree Plans: Oversee semesterly/annual updates to the EMMs and degree plan temp ates.Communicate with the colleges, departments, and partners involved in the Experiential Major Maps and degree plan templates to facilitate updates.Ensure accessibility of templates and EMMs.Supervise front desk staffOther duties as assigned..Bachelor's degree with experience working with college students in an academic advising capacity or the equivalent experience..Two (2) years of progressive academic advising experience at a public college/university.Leadership experience at an institution of higher education.Experience implementing, monitoring, and assessing professional development trainings.
