Civil Engineer

Job Description

Develop engineering plans under the guidance of a professional engineer, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards. Perform design tasks such as grading, culvert/storm drain calculations, inlet calculations, and dry utility designs. Conduct feasibility studies and site investigations under the supervision of a professional engineer. Supervise and review the work of junior designers, drafters, and interns to ensure adherence to CAD and design standards. Provide technical support and training to team members, identifying educational needs and communicating them to management. Conduct quality control reviews before submitting plans to the engineer. Estimate quantities and costs of materials, equipment, and labor to assess project feasibility, and review estimates prepared by others. Interpret and modify survey data from topographical surveys and aerial images, converting it into standardized base and sheet files using AutoCAD and verifying coordinate systems. Prepare job specifications and contract documents. Research and apply local, state, and federal requirements and design guidelines. Assist project managers in ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Support project managers with budgeting and maintaining project schedules and deadlines.
