Job Title:Wire EDM Operator

Job Summary:The Wire EDM Operator will use EDM machine(s) to shape metal and diamond pieces to specifications and follow standard prints that give information such as electrodes to be used, depth of setting and number of workpieces or cavities to be shaped. The operator is responsible for all machine set up, maintaining and running Wire EDM Machine(s) as well as inspecting tools.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Set up and edit programs for precision machinery.

• Responsible for machine setup based on blueprints and process sheets to determine correct settings, number of workpieces and cavities to be created.

• Secures the workpiece on the machine table or places it in the fixture.

• Correct problems by adjusting controls or moving axes.

• Inspects finished work pieces to ensure compliance with accepted manufacturing tolerances.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

• Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of tool and cutter grinding is ideal but not required.

• Vocational school or apprenticeship is ideal but not required.

• Experience in operating and programming machines is preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Outstanding mathematical skills including geometry and math conversions.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail.

• Ability to read and use calipers, micrometers, height gauge, and depth micrometers.

• Understanding of basic computer skills and file format manipulation.

• Great verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing at a machine.

• Lightwork that includes bending into the machine, light lifting up to 20 pounds and some repetitive motions.
