Job Overview

This position is responsible for coordinating safety policy updates and training activity as documented in the Environmental, health and safety (EH&S) programs and policies. Personnel will work directly with the Plant Management Team and Safety Committee members to meet EH&S Objectives.

A Day In The Life

  • Work with plant supervision and the management team to facilitate the training needs of individuals as outlined in the Facility EH&S Procedures and Policies. Maintain continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • Coordinate Safety Training activity for new and existing employees. Monitor training effectiveness and advise management personnel of deficiencies.

  • Assist the management team to maintain a safe and hazard free environment by working with plant supervision and the maintenance team to ensure compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations. Identify and report any unsafe acts or conditions to management personnel.

  • Actively participate in plant safety committee activity to promote safety awareness and compliance.

  • Internal working relationships with: Management Staff, Production Supervision and Maintenance/ Facilities Team.

  • External working relationship with Group EH&S Manager.

  • Assist in the management of OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.

  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counseling for all non-compliances.

  • Purchasing of all safety supplies, products or training items required.

  • Support Lean manufacturing and distribution activities working with the KAIZEN promotion office and key staff personnel to identify and drive continuous improvement activity.

  • Set an example for behavioral expectations and maintain a professional demeanor, lead by example, maintain a positive productive attitude and foster team harmony.

  • Develop, maintain and report the company EH&S documentation.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Management Team.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • B.S./B.A. degree with experience in safety, environmental, or health management and compliance.

  • 2-5 years of prior EHS experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to use judgment and make decisions as to the accuracy and completeness of information and work performed.

  • Ability to work independently and to manage multiple priorities.

  • Knowledge of PC software programs required to maintain process and product documentation.

  • Excellent communication skills up and down organizational structure.

  • Proficiency in the English language.

  • Strong planning, organizational and follow-up skills.
