YMCA of the Triangle Groundskeeper (Camp Sea Gull) - PT in Arapahoe, North Carolina

This position is seasonal and will run from May through September.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Grounds Crew Chief, the Groundskeeper is responsible for trimming and mowing the grounds, trash pick-up, and general grounds maintenance at a level defined by the Camp Director.They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Trimming and mowing grounds on a regular schedule as decided by the Grounds Crew Chief.
  • Collecting and disposal of trash from all buildings and activities daily.
  • Assist with the mowing and maintenance of golf course as needed.
  • Perform all preventative maintenance required on equipment and assist with the repairing of all equipment used for grounds maintenance.
  • Support of all team efforts in large operations such as aeration of greens, camp openings, storm damage cleanup/repair and any other events requiring a team effort.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in related work preferred.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment and lawn maintenance equipment, and perform general maintenance and general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and light carpentry.
  • Ability to read and follow oral and written directions.
  • The position requires the ability to work with applications on electronic devices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Positive attitude and enjoying working in a team-oriented environment is essential to success.
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required.

  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
  • Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
  • Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
  • Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi - reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
  • Compliance with all COVID related PPE, cleaning, reporting and prevention expectations efforts. Further training and detail will be provided upon question and/or hire.
