MCCUTCHEON ENTERPRISES INC Diesel Mechanic in APOLLO, Pennsylvania
Summary:
Provides truck, trailer and heavy equipment preventive maintenance and repair.
Duties and responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Works with the Fleet Resource Manager/Shop Supervisor on identifying the service needs of fleet vehicles and equipment.*
- Checks oil & all fluids of each vehicle/equipment on property.*
- Verifies when each vehicle/equipment scheduled to work the next day will start.*
- Reviews all Vehicle Inspection Forms for the prior and/or current day and makes any repairs that are within their capability.*
- Verifies vehicles are fueled, cleaned out, equipment is adequate and operational for next day's schedule.*
- Inspects vacuum pumps, moisture traps, etc. are clean/repair as needed.*
- Inspects tires & brakes and informs Fleet Resource Manager/Shop Supervisor of need for repair/replacement.*
- Inspects windshields, lights, heaters, air conditioners, tarps, valves, etc.*
- Verify all license plates, insurance and DOT inspections are current.*
- Verify hoses, fittings, etc. meet inventory requirements, and all are in proper working order.*
- Responsible for meeting and continuing to meet all DOT mandated physical, and drug and alcohol testing requirements. *
- Reports for all scheduled work shifts before scheduled starting time, and works until scheduled stopping time, as required.*
- Completion of paperwork daily.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.*
- Attend MEI's Saturday safety meetings presented every other month.
- Quick and immediate response when on call every 5th week
- Ability to wear and properly use a variety of levels A-D personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, skin, face, hand and foot protection as needed.

*Essential Functions
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Sense of urgency and good time management skills.
- Self-sufficiency, capable of working independently.
- Able to complete extensive training programs, environmental laws and regulations, safety training; 40 Hour OSHA Training and Confined Space Entry, site specific training, and other training as required.
- Excellent attitude toward personal safety, process safety, and environmental compliance.
Required Education, Training and Experience:
- Accredited High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED); trade school certification.
- Unexpired PA CDL A/B in good standing, Class 7 PA State Inspection a plus.
- Prior Diesel Mechanic experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Position involves regular heights and confined spaces; regular strenuous physical exertion.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, climbing, sitting, talking, and listening.
- Requires frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, and carrying.
- Required to have clarity of vision.
- Regular ability to properly wear and use respirator equipment and other forms of protective equipment (PPE), including occasional full encapsulation PPE suits which can elevate body temperature substantially during strenuous exertion.
