    Safety & Health Coordinator: Assist Corporate and Division Safety & Health Director in maintaining the Company’s Safety Program in a manner to ultimately protect the safety and health of every employee, our clients, and the public. Provide Health, Safety and Environmental support to a long term project in the Charleston, SC area. Generally, this individual identifies hazardous workplace conditions and ensures all recognizable hazards are mitigated.

    Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Work under supervision of Division Safety & Health Director

  • Daily support/interaction with Project Management & Superintendent(s)

  • Assist Claims Manager regarding all Workers’ Compensation issues

  • Coordinate with Employee Services in support of Company Policies, including Substance Abuse Policy and new employee orientation procedures

  • Conducts and documents site specific training: Formal training (off site), Informal training (on site), Safety meetings, any additional training as mandated by work activity, clients and / or the law

  • Inspect jobsites on a regular basis

  • Inspection documented in a timely manner

  • Corrective actions taken

  • Trends identified

  • Perform industrial hygiene sampling within the division

  • Purchase job site safety equipment

  • Assists and/or conducts investigations, including:

  • Handle EEO, harassment, discrimination complaints and concerns (As directed by Corporate Safety & Health Director or Division EEO Coordinator)

  • Field accidents, incidents and near-misses

  • Property damage

  • Public complaints

  • Support all field activities as required

  • Client meetings

  • Site problems / situations

  • Ensure regulatory compliance

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

  • Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)

  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

  • Clean Air Act

  • Clean Water Act

  • SARA Title III

  • All other applicable agencies

    Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years Safety & Health experience/knowledge

  • Must have a valid, non-restrictive driver's license

  • Maintain procedural knowledge on regulatory compliance standards and practices

  • Specialized instruction in safety-related field, or equivalent combination of intellectual instruction and work experience

  • Intermediate computer skills (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, COINS)
