Job Title: Sales Associate

Shift: Varies

Reports To: Store Manager/Team Leader; Assistant Team Leader

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities of the Sales Associate position are to maintain outstanding guest service, generate sales,

merchandise product, own assigned departments and support the store leadership team. Must be steadfast in the

Kabats Ace Hardware Mission, Vision, and Core Values working to live the core values every day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

? Greet all guests and assist in answering questions about merchandise and locating merchandise; use The

S.A.L.E.S. process to help guests find everything on their list.

? Complete all company and departmental paperwork accurately, including Price Change Bulletins, Operation

Actions, Red Tags, and Bin Tags.

? Receive, open, and unpack cartons or crates of merchandise, checking paperwork against items received when

required, and replenish stock when necessary.

? Display and maintain merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters or tables following company plan-o-gram,

building displays when necessary to attract guests and promote sales within specified guidelines by your

leadership team.

? Maintain on-hand integrity through inventory adjustment reports including; cycle count, negative on-hand.

? Follow the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.

? Maintain familiarity with new products and ad merchandise.

? Must have sound awareness of surroundings, guests, etc. and practices loss prevention techniques to minimize

shoplifting losses.

? Working knowledge of the tools available to operate the store; including, but not limited to: RF Gun, Back Office

Procedures and the use of Store Opportunities.

? Follow Kabats Ace policies and procedures for all transactions. Engage the guests to ensure they are receiving all

the benefits of being an Ace Rewards member and actively seek participation from them.

? Must be able to communicate effectively, and work with colleagues and guests effectively and professionally.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

? Assists with color matching and mixing paint

? Assists and/or makes recommendations to guests in the service areas within the store including, but not limited

to; chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.

? Operates cash register by scanning all merchandise, engaging the guest through suggestive selling, proper

tendering of each transaction, and thanking the guest for shopping at or choosing Kabats Ace.

? Adhere to all company policies.

? Participates in periodic team meetings.

? A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a flexible

schedule including weekends.

Communicates with all members of store leadership, store lead supervisors, store team associates, and the support

center personnel as necessary. Maintains outstanding guest satisfaction.

TECHNOLOGY

Use of computer, computer keyboard, mouse, RF Gun, Google Drive, AceNet, Epicor (point of sale system) and email.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The

requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Six months related experience and/or training preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure

manua ls. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively with guests or associates of the

organization. Ability to understand and respond to verbal instructions or questions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and

decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability

to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
