Anoka County Public Health and Environmental Services (PHES) currently has an opening for an Administrative Assistant in Disease Prevention & Control (DPC) and Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP). This position is the first point of contact for the public and plays a vital role in supporting the department by communicating directly with the public and other community partners. They also assist with preparing community reports and department materials to distribute throughout the county. Pay & Benefits Salary: $48,006 to $56,409 ($23.08 to $27.12 per hour). 2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 28: $48,006 to $64,812 ($23.08 to $31.16 per hour). 24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 paid holidays. Advancement/professional development opportunities. Work Location This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303. Expected work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Job Duties and Responsibilities These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Administrative Assistant - Public Health. Works with community partners and clients professionally and effectively on the phone and in-person. Schedules and coordinates office meetings. Organize, attend, and support staff team meetings, including updating policies and procedures, and taking minutes. Administratively supports Disease Prevention and Control and Emergency Preparedness staff to include copying, faxing, mailing, ordering supplies, and registering for training and activities. Maintains inventory management system of emergency preparedness equipment and supplies, including developing procedures and training staff on use. Support management of the Health Alert Network and Medical Reserve Corps volunteers. Provides administrative support for grant reporting, planning and client/partner activities. Maintains website and materials for Disease Prevention and Control and Emergency Preparedness. Determine client eligibility for vaccine program and schedule appointments in addition to providing administrative support at vaccine clinics. Design, edit, and proofread PowerPoint presentations, flyers, newsletters, brochures, manuals, community reports and memos using a variety of software programs. Complete other duties as assigned. Emergency preparedness is a core public health responsibility. Responding to Public Health emergen ies, which may occur outside of normal business hours, is a requirement of this position in order to protect the health and well-being of our residents. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed High school diploma or equivalent education. Two years of full-time (2,080 annual hours) job-related experience in a fast-paced office/business services or similar environment. In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Strong written and verbal communication skills. Job-related experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe, and DocuSign. Job-related experience working within a business office environment and with county and state programs. Provide proficient customer service skills both in person and over the phone while managing a large volume of inquiries. Accurately maintain electronic filing systems, systematic records, and manage multiple computer programs and databases. Ability to make sound and timely decisions while being technically proficient. Knowledge of purchase order procedures. Physical Demands and Work Conditions Standard office environment. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness. Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds. Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work. Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs. Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment. Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
