About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees. Responsibilities Determines feasibility of producing products on a particular CNC machine. Develops sequence of machining operations to produce the required fabrication items or reclamation items utilizing the computerized interactive graphics system. Conducts depot-wide feasibility studies to determine item applicability of CNC equipment to the depot industrial operations. Analyzes engineering drawings to determine the feasibility of manufacturing a part entirely or partially by CNC machines. Considers relative cost between conventional and CNC methods (work-mix analysis), availability and capacity of regular and special tools, tolerance and surface finish required, product design, and quantity of parts required. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: application of Computer-aided design (CAD) Computer Aided Manufacturing /Computer Numerically Controlled (CAM/CNC) methods and processes to production of complex missile components, combat vehicles, assemblies, and other defense systems; Prepare report of findings and outlines technical recommendations of equipment; Prepare designs, drawings, specifications, schedules, phasing requirements, and contingency plans to ensure successful project completion and minimal disruption of practices and design factors for projects requiring specialized or complex designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Planning and Evaluating Problem Solving Project Management Reading Comprehension Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
