POSITION PURPOSE

Act as Team Lead of the Ann Arbor Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) Central Staffing Office. Monitors the central staffing office team’s work, acts as a resource for the staffing clerks, collaborates with the NRP manager to meet the organization’s staffing demands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to Trinity Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places. Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, and the Mission, Vision, Values, and policies of Trinity Health. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management. Demonstrates ability to readily acquire new knowledge. Acts as liaison with Department of Nursing leadership staff and other departments, as it relates to developing and implementing work processes. Identifies and focuses on new opportunities which will improve workflow within the team and department. Schedules employees in a manner consistent with NRP and TH guidelines. Enters accurate scheduling, attendance, and timekeeping information into appropriate scheduling systems. Runs a variety of reports from different programs to provide an accurate picture of where current resources are assigned. Provides accurate and timely performance feedback to team members. Communicates directly with patient care colleagues through a variety of methods for the purpose of increasing the colleague’s availability and flexibility to meet the needs of the patient care units. Books available colleagues to open shifts. Assists staffing clerks with problem-solving or escalation of issues, as needed. Actively participates in business decisions related to the Central Staffing Office; assists team with identifying solutions and implementing changes. Collaborates with NRP Education Coordinators for training schedule needs and to identify any barriers. Provides feedback regarding process improvements, barriers and participates in implementation of solutions. Performs ad hoc projects as needed and other administrative functions, as delegated by manager. Demonstrate the ability to complete staffing clerk duties per Central Staffing Clerk Job description. Acts as backup for central staffing clerk role when needed. Promotes tidiness and organization of team’s work area(s), coordinates acquisition and maintenance of necessary supplies and equipment operation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience as staffing clerk, scheduler, or similar experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Familiarity with staffing procedures, usually gained through two or more years of staffing experience. Strong attention to detail. Ability to exercise independent judgment to set work priorities. Organizational skills to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly to changes and interruptions. Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and with limited direction. Ability to demonstrate customer service and conflict management skills.
