Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

Performs all job functions of the Pharmacy Technician I – Retail with the additional responsibilities of oversight of the YesRx! Collaborative program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the pertinent Pharmacy Technician I - Retail responsibilities, the YesRx! Technician is also responsible for:

Being the point person for all YesRx! program communications including those with YesRx! founders and other CDR sites in the YesRx! Network. Accurate inventory oversight including audits and updates in Epic as well as YesRx! Inventory. Accepting medication donations, preparing and mailing transfers, processing and preparing dispenses for pharmacist. Participating in monthly YesRx! meetings with lead pharmacist and regional manager. Ensuring accurate record keeping in compliance with all program standards and Michigan law. YesRx program ineligible medication management - identify ineligible medications, process and prepare for transfer or destruction, update paperwork and database(s) - including communication, as needed, with partners. Aiding YesRx in monthly inventory reconciliation. Providing support and participation in YesRx - Trinity Health/IHA awareness events (i.e. medication donation events, community events) Any other YesRx! or Reichert Pharmacy related tasks as directed by the pharmacist. Maintaining good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.

Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to Trinity Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places. Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values and policies of Trinity Health. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management. Demonstrates collaboration, critical thinking, and teamwork when facilitating operational decisions and resolving issues. Performs other responsibilities as requested by Pharmacy Management.

Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Education: Pharmacy Technician Certification Program (PTCB)

Experience: Five years of experience at the Pharmacy Technician level with progressively more responsibility.

Licensure / Certification: Current State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively within the Pharmacy department, customers and external YesRx! Team members. Effective oral communication skills to lead and to participate constructively in meetings and programs. Effective written communication skills to compose memorandums, policies and procedures, and training materials if needed. Pharmaceutical knowledge commensurate with a certified pharmacy technician to function on-line as work volume dictates. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 100% of the time when performing on-line functions. Advanced computer skills to perform in an office environment, retrieve data, generate reports, and function in an on-line position. Working knowledge of Trinity Health and departmental policies and procedures, and federal, state, and regulatory agency laws. Ability to apply policies and procedures in a fair and objective manner. Leadership, motivational, and teaching skills. Creative problem-solving skills and ability to communicate solutions to colleagues and leadership. Independent decision-making skills and good judgement when prioritizing responsibilities. Knowledge and understanding of the decision-making process within Trinity Health as it relates to implementing system changes. Ability to function in a stressful and demanding environment with critical time constraints.
