Job Summary
The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN) is looking for a team player with a positive outlook and flexible `can-do' attitude to join its team as the Operational Support Manager. This individual will provide faculty support team leadership as well as a variety of administrative and operational management services of in promotion of the day-to-day operations of the School of Nursing.
Responsibilities*
Manage and lead the faculty support staff in all applicable service delivery activities including course support, surveys, education management system support, syllabus drafts preparation and archiving, administrative support for assigned faculty initiatives and committees, and testing accommodations.
Oversee testing accommodations for students with approved accommodations for the school.
Monitor workflow and ensure that requests for support are attended to in a timely and professional manner.
Develop teamwork plans and schedules and manage unit communications. Plan and direct work coverage and schedules to ensure the best utilization of resources while maintaining workload balances across team members.
Develop and implement systems for tracking assignments, staff work progress, and process documentation. Create, review, and maintain process and procedure documentation.
Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and training new employees. Train existing staff on new protocols and systems. Providing ongoing feedback to employees and preparing their annual performance evaluation as well as handling performance complaints and disciplinary actions.
Perform duties of the faculty support team staff as necessary including faculty support, mail delivery, general classroom upkeep, front desk coverage, exam proctoring, committee and special initiatives administrative support, and facilities support. Provide backup management support for facilities team management.
Responsible for maintaining computer equipment inventory, related controls, and tracking. Anticipate inventory needs for end-of-warranty/end-of-life upgrades and communicate needs to leadership. Coordinate equipment upgrades. Track equipment warranty information. Coordinate equipment dispositions with the facilities manager.
Analyze data and statistics to continually improve inventory processes. Use software to track inventory status and movement. Track employee acknowledgments of equipment issued and returned. Review processes and take regular physical inventory to track performance.
Oversee and control inventory coming in and going out. Track orders and shipment receipts. Coordinate outgoing shipments of equipment for RMAs, repairs, and remote employees. Find ways to optimize inventory control procedures and maintain updated documentation. Report findings, reports, and data to leadership.
Required Qualifications*
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
An advanced degree or certification in a related field is preferred.
Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience in a busy, fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment, or academic administration environment in higher education is required.
Proven abilities as a successful team leader or supervisor in an academic support environment.
Experience and proven ability to manage projects and facilitate their timely completion.
Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums including demonstrated knowledge of proper grammar and punctuation usage.
Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), as well as with Google Drive applications (Documents, Spreadsheets and Forms).
Demonstrated previous experience using reference software such as EndNote or RefWorks for research or academic writing purposes.
Familiarity with Canvas is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to build positive and productive relationships with individuals at various professional levels.
Working knowledge of applicable University policies and procedures is preferred.

Additional Information
Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; some occasional weekend, early morning and/or evening hours may be required. This position allows a hybrid work arrangement option. The candidate will be expected to be in the office a minimum of 2 days/week and maintain flexibility for possible additional days onsite.
Salary: The target salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 per year. The actual salary determined will be based on qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. We encourage all interested parties to apply.
