POSITION PORPOSE

  • This is a Non-RN IBCLC position that supports the Trinity Health Ann Arbor (THAA) NICU and/or the Postpartum unit.

  • This position is a part-time, benefited role, scheduled 40 or 48 hours per bi-weekly pay period. Shifts will be on days or evenings with a weekend rotation. No Holidays or Nights.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • The main clinical focus is assisting mothers and babies to breastfeed successfully.

  • The CLC functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team.

  • Effectively communicates patient breastfeeding status, priority goals and interventions to colleagues and other disciplines through written (Lactation Assessment) and verbal methods.

  • Responds to and documents outside calls requesting breastfeeding information and support.

  • Assists breastfeeding mothers with infants in Pediatrics, the NICU, Labor and Delivery (L&D) and other SJMH units, in addition to the Mother Baby unit.

  • Works with the health care team to develop feeding plan and discharge planning related to breastfeeding plans.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification/Licensure: International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant

  • The Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) is a health professional, who has obtained International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners certification (IBLCE).

  • Experience: The CLC is experienced with working with women and their newborns throughout the perinatal period.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
