Job Description:
Summary:
The individual in this role will support client-specific and market sector teams with developing and implementing strategies for winning new clients and expanding and enhancing our relationships with existing clients. Working with the business development team and our engineers and scientists, this individual will promote and coordinate marketing programs as well as conferences, trade shows, and client events.
This role will have responsibility for leading and supporting major marketing initiatives, such as environmental, social, and governance (ESG), and leading and supporting industrial-focused market sector teams including oil and gas, manufacturing, and power industries.
Responsibilities include:
Market Intelligence and Insights:
Identify and use various market research databases and sources to gather market intelligence
Develop market insights through research, participation in industry conferences and organizations, and direct contact with clients and prospective clients
Synthesize market data and insights down to relevant trends and opportunities that will be brought forward to Barr's decision-making teams
Use market intelligence to develop or support market and client-specific strategies
Maintain an understanding of the engineering and environmental consulting market to help differentiate Barr from competitors and identify potential partnership opportunities
Market Strategy:
Collaborate with engineer and scientist practitioners to develop and execute market strategies and long-lead pursuits
Identify the need for, and contribute to the development of, marketing content that will demonstrate Barr's competitive position in the marketplace
Partner with marketing, communications, and technical staff to develop and carry out marketing strategies
Marketing Programs:
Lead and support Barr's market and client-specific programs, including developing annual priorities and plans for client engagement, cross-selling, and strategic pursuits
Support, facilitate, and lead business development and strategic pursuit efforts. This will include identifying opportunities, developing positioning plans, and tracking the execution of these pursuits
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field
Five or more years of related work experience
Experience leading cross-functional teams
Superior analytical skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
Ability to take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
Ability to influence without authority
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively across teams
Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule to help meet project deadlines
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in consulting or professional services industry
Expertise in the mining, energy, or manufacturing industries
Proficiency in developing and implementing digital marketing and social media strategies
Knowledge of current and emerging reporting frameworks for ESG
Proficiency preparing visual presentation materials
Experience with Deltek Vision or other CRM systems
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.
