Michigan Dining is comprised of nineteen on-campus cafes and markets, nine residential dining halls, Michigan Bakery, and the Michigan Catering unit. Job Summary

Support the planning and coordination of the service aspects of catered events. Provide oversight at events to ensure service standards are upheld and provide guidance. Maintain quality customer relationships at events and provide resolution to concerns that arise. You will report to the Catering Manager. Responsibilities*

What you'll do:

  • Support the catering operation to include oversight of events, management of floor and engaging with client contacts daily. .

  • Help complete a weekly catering schedule ensuring staff coverage to meet special event needs and monitoring labor costs.

  • Assist the Catering Manager in ensuring compliance with all state and county health department and safety regulations and maintains high standards of sanitation as a unit priority.

  • Demonstrate and enforce Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles to include the guidance and maintenance of the sanitary conditions of food storage, production, serving and other front/back of the house areas.

  • Conduct routine inspection of preparation, storage, and service areas ensuring sanitation is maintained as well as the health and safety of dining guests and employees.

  • Ensure the health and safety of dining guests and employees. Oversee signage including food item identifiers, menus, nutrition and allergens in collaboration with culinary staff.

Required Qualifications*

  • Associate's degree in food related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

  • 1 year or more of supervisory experience in food-related field with knowledge of food service methods and equipment.

Additional Information

Selected candidates whose start date is after 4/1/2024 or before 8/31/2024 will not be eligible for the university FY 24-25 salary/merit plan unless otherwise notified.

This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.

Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment and applicants for this position will not be sponsored for work visas.

Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.

Relocation will not be offered for this position.
