On With Life Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Ankeny, United States

Our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) positions primarily work 6am-2:30p, 2pm-10:30pm, or 10pm-6:30am. We have some flexibility regarding which shifts are worked on which days. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) positions can work as little as part-time 16 hours/week up to full-time 40 hours/week; weekends-only options may also be available. Each schedule requires a holiday rotation (with special holiday pay), and if not weekends-only, an every 3rd weekend rotation. As part of completing the application, we'll ask you to specify the hours you are interested in.

IMPORTANT : Please note that our orientation process (typically up to 1 month) may require working days or shifts outside of what will be your permanent schedule.

Our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) positions start at $16/hour for minimal experience, with our most experienced staffing making up to $24/hour. We pay a 9% differential on your experienced-based base wage for all hours worked between 2pm and 10pm, and 11% for all hours worked between 10pm and 6am. We do annual raises based on budget capacity, and you also have the opportunity for a discretionary bonus at your anniversary.

We also offer a Hiring Bonus, paid in increments through your first 18 months of employment. The bonus is:

  • Positions regularly scheduled less than 24 hours per week: $3,000

  • Positions regularly scheduled at least 24 but less than 36 hours per week: $4,000

  • Positions regularly scheduled 36 or more hours per week: $5,000

This position is eligible for a 401k match, PTO and long-term sick pay, and other benefits depending on total hours worked, such as subsidized health, dental and vision insurance. We are also a qualified not-for-profit employer for the federal Public Student Loan Forgiveness program, and we will help reimburse the costs of your CNA course and exam if you are within the first 12-months following course completion.

What do Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) do at On With Life?

Under licensed nurse supervision and in partnership with other members of the transdisciplinary rehabilitation team, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) help our persons served maintain the highest quality of life by providing direct and personalized care, including:

  • assists persons served in activities of daily living, including meals

  • provides range of motion exercises as ordered by therapists

  • performs transfers with and without use of various lifts, as indicated

  • identifies and reports vital information and findings to designated nursing staff

  • implements and performs various levels of restraint and safety checks

Qualified candidates must have:

  • Current certification to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Iowa (active on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry)

  • Ability to maintain CPR certification (if you do not have this already, we will pay for it)

  • Please note that the federal government requires that our employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (first 2 doses) or request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption. We may not be able to proceed with employment if you cannot meet one of these requirements
