B & G FOODS NORTH AMERICA Maintenance Supervisor - R3705 in Ankeny, Iowa

Provides the necessary maintenance support for the facilities, packaging equipment, power, refrigeration, and landscaping at the Ankeny, Iowa plant.

Essential Duties:

  • Supervise all maintenance and capital projects at the Ankeny Plant.
  • Staff, schedule the maintenance department as appropriate, and ensure its effectiveness through training.
  • Maintain a positive labor relations environment with subordinate personnel.
  • Analyze production processes and methods.
  • Recommend and implement changes and new programs that improve costs.
  • Provide monthly summaries to the management of maintenance performance and capital project updates.
  • Maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and Good Manufacturing Practice policies and procedures in areas of own responsibility.
  • Provide ongoing training and enforcement as appropriate.
  • Responsible for reporting any food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Enforce GMP rules and guidelines.
  • Identify and communicate food safety issues; lead and influence food safety initiatives.

Minimum Experience:

  • Total Yrs. of Experience: 5 to 7 years.
  • Six years of experience in engineering and maintenance, including four years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in consumer food products and food packaging. Apprenticeship in one of more maintenance areas.
  • Functional experience in the use of Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards is a plus.
  • Minimum Formal Education: Associate Degree.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to negotiate with vendors.
  • Analytical skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Physical: The job often requires standing, walking, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and finger/hand dexterity.
  • Sensory: Ability to communicate via speaking, listening, and visual means. Ability to give verbal direction and negotiate.
  • Mental/Reasoning:Ability to use analytical skills to determine the correct course of action. Ability to manage several projects at the same time and be able to learn new projects quickly.
