Activity Supported:

USAF wargaming consists of multiple nested events that build upon each other in the study of force posture and design to achieve CSAF objectives. Each wargame consists of multiple task, functional, and cross-functional specific workshops, joint and combined operational planning events, table-top exercises, vignette driven explorations, and strategic forums.

Job Description:

  • Manages wargame Common Operating Picture (CoP) (e.g. ForceTracker) and coordinates, compiles and updates data (e.g., Operational Order of Battle, Facilities, Installations, etc.) from wargame participants and external data providers (e.g., intelligence community) to ensure accurate representation for wargames

  • Maintaining, modernizing, managing, and employing the Wargame Information Environment (WIE) and related components.

  • Develops and implements software and database applications to support wargame design, execution, and analysis

  • Integrate and maintain M&S tools to enable accurate representation (i.e, a common operating picture (COP)) of modern all-domain operations in USAF wargames. Identify software solutions to enable improved player interaction (User Experience) with the COP. COTS/GOTS tools or custom developed tools may be employed to achieve results.

  • Continually improve and integrate M&S capabilities to support wargaming

  • Evaluate new and emerging models, tools, and software to accurately represent modern all-domain operations, to keep pace with evolving technology, and report relevant tools to the Government

  • Provide inputs for new M&S requirements for wargaming and experimentation activities

  • Investigate distributed wargaming concepts for incorporation as appropriate/directed

  • Improve both the quality of and access to data sources used within wargames

  • Ensure data is accurately represented within the CoP and representative databases

  • Participate in wargaming community workshops and demonstrations in order to evaluate new initiatives and provide recommendations on their consideration for incorporation into the existing AF toolkits and processes

  • Advise principal engineer when updates to software and database applications are required

  • Assist pre - game, concurrent, and/or post - game analysis

  • Support the design of wargames to meet a variety of purposes and objectives.

  • Support the development and tailoring of wargame scenarios and vignettes.

  • Providing and maintaining a high level of subject-matter expertise for wargame support, participation, adjudication, facilitation, and analysis.

  • Participate in mission-partner wargames and workshops as required to provide subject matter expertise and stay apprised of activities in the military wargaming community.

  • The Contractor shall prepare WIE hardware and software for incorporation into the WIE both at regular worksite and offsite event locations, as required.

  • Aid Government personnel in engaging and integrating analytical organizations both internal and external to AF Futures and HQ USAF in wargames to develop and execute an objectives analysis plan.

    Required Skills/Education/Years of Experience:

  • Shall possess a graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in modeling, simulations, or operations research analysis.

  • Shall have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience developing wargame tools and in providing wargame or operational analysis required.

    Security Clearance Required: TOP SECRET /SCI (TS/SCI) eligible security clearance is mandatory.

    Position Type: Full Time

    Salary Range: $155,000 - 205,000

    Work Location: The primary duty location is Joint Base Andrews, MD. Occasional work presence will be required at AF Futures spaces at the Pentagon, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, or elsewhere in the NCR, as mission requirements dictate.
