Lockheed Martin Head of Product Engineering / Electrochemical Systems in Andover, Massachusetts

Description:

Lockheed Martin Energy is pioneering long-duration energy storage systems, based on a proprietary redox chemistry, to enable the widespread adoption of renewable power generation and enhance the resilience of the electric grid. We seek a well-qualified engineering leader to help commercialize these revolutionary products.

The successful candidate will direct an interdisciplinary team developing turn-key energy storage systems. For this role, we seek a self-motivated, dynamic, and creative individual with a serious interest in renewable energy technologies. Significant product engineering experience is required, including detailed design of custom subsystems as well as integration of commercial off-the-shelf components.

The Head of Product Engineering is expected to have a highly refined sense of design for manufacturability and maintainability, to drive solutions that achieve performance and cost targets concurrently. This position requires the technical breadth to direct staff and subordinate leaders executing work scope in flow cell stack design, fluid distribution, thermal management, electrical system design and packaging, networked instrumentation and control, and software. Expertise in one or more of these technical domains is also expected.

As a senior member of the leadership team, the Head of Product Engineering will contribute to the development of technology and business strategies and product roadmaps. Externally, this leader will engage proactively with suppliers and customers to understand their evolving capabilities and needs, ensuring continued differentiation of the company’s products.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical discipline

• Minimum of 10+ years product development experience with expertise in any of the following: machine design, fluid pumping and distribution, thermal management, performance characterization, materials selection, instrumentation and process control, power conversion, supplier development, and new product introduction from prototyping through full-rate production

• 5+ years of experience managing direct reports, and a genuine commitment to staff development through coaching, mentoring, and identification of training opportunities and stretch assignments

• Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident

Desired Skills:

• An advanced technical degree

• The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, tailoring content to suit the needs and background of the audience

• A working knowledge of electrochemical energy conversion or electrosynthetic systems including flow batteries, fuel cells, electrolyzers, and chlor-alkali processing

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
