The Role:
Step into a pivotal role as the Director Compensation, where you will lead the PSJH Compensation team, crafting and executing forward-thinking compensation strategies that align with Providence Health & Services' mission and values. You will collaborate with the Executive Director – Provider Compensation and Contracting to design cohesive frameworks that ensure compliance, foster excellence, and advance organizational goals.
What You'll Do:
Management: Direct (including hiring, mentoring, coaching) the PSJH Provider Compensation team which is accountable for consultation and analysis of physician and non-physician provider compensation design, strategy, process and FMV review.
Strategic Innovator: Plan, organize, and evaluate enterprise-wide compensation processes, practices, procedures and policies relating to provider compensation.
Compliance Expert: Ensure compensation programs comply with all relevant State and Federal requirements, while supporting attraction and retention initiatives. Diagnose organizational provider compensation issues, identifying compensation requirements and develop solutions that marry regulatory adherence to support attraction and retention initiatives.
Creative Thinker: Create structures to support proactive analysis of provider compensation (identification of best practices, income plotting, benchmarking to surveys, FMV reviews, etc.)
Collaborator: Oversee provider compensation-related committees and work with various Providence partners to capture best practices and drive proactive audit and analysis functions.
Relationship Builder: Cultivate strong partnerships with executive leadership teams to ensure seamless negotiation and execution of provider compensation processes.
Guidance: Offer insightful guidance to team members and leaders, leveraging your expertise in healthcare compensation and market trends.
What You'll Bring:
Educational Foundation: Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Finance, or Business Management—or equivalent experience. Master's Degree preferred.
Proven Expertise: Over 10 years of experience in compensation, finance, contracts, regulations, project management and/or risk management within healthcare delivery environment, consulting environment, or related environment.
Leadership Excellence: 8 years of leadership experience required, with 5 years specifically in physician compensation design and evaluation (Preferred).
Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of physician compensation principles, industry best practices, and regulatory issues.
Strategic Acumen: Ability to manage high-level professionals across diverse geographies and achieve initiatives in collaboration with senior executives and boards.
Communication Skills: Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with executives.
Advanced Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with preferred knowledge of analytics, reporting, and presentation tools like PowerBI, SSRS, and PowerPoint.
