St. Mary's Healthcare Multiskilled Patient Care Technician in Amsterdam, New York

Job Requisition: REQ2989 Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: Days Hours Per Week: 40 hours

Hiring range: Range: $19.50-$25.55 The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Responsibilities:

  • May draw and collect blood samples according to policy.

  • Receive, process and transport specimens.

  • Verify all related records.

  • Maintains, cleans, and sterilizes equipment and work area following safety, cleanliness and infection control procedures.

  • Attaches, connects, and operates electrodes from specified body areas to leads from electrocardiograph machine.

  • Reviews patients record and instructs patients prior to procedure. Monitors patient during procedures and reports and abnormal findings.

  • Identifies and corrects artifacts. Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation

  • Maintains Phlebotomy and EKG equipment and supplies.

  • Assist as needed with obtaining height, weight, and vital signs.

  • Transfer patients as needed to Medical Imaging department.

  • Performs clerical duties which may include answering phones, reviewing EKGs, collecting patient demographic data for patient registration, ordering tests, data entry, chart preparation and filing as needed.

Education, Training & Experience:

  • High School diploma/Ged required. Minimum of one (1) year experience in EKG and/or phlebotomy preferred.
