Mohawk Lifts LLC Continuous Improvement Engineer in Amsterdam, New York
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer helps drive continuous improvement through both the engineering and production departments. The CI Engineer will help create processes and develop tools for implementing safety, quality, and cost improvements in the company. This role will work with the operations team to lead CI activities and develop and execute training content in targeted areas. The CI Engineer is the leader for all Lean/Six Sigma activities at the facility.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Lead and coach functional teams to identify and analyze losses and develop solutions and control plans using simple Lean Tools such as SMED, Kaizen, Work Standards, etc.- Identify and execute activities such as Kaizen events, that focus on scrap reduction, utilization of Lean Tools (5S, SMED, visual controls, Value Stream Mapping) and overall continuous improvement of all production lines.- Provide technical support to develop and implement new cost savings and waste elimination programs, as well as execute active projects.- Lead cross functional teams to develop and implement process improvements through documenting and creating standard operating procedures (SOPs), and developing roles, responsibilities, and procedures that lead to standardization of work and improvements.- Identify and work on capital projects involving new equipment or facilities upgrades.- Develop and implement training programs and training content to improve the skillsets of employees.- Lead larger projects focused on targeted and specific efforts to increase uptime and help improve throughput.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS: - Experience in leading continuous improvement projects in a manufacturing setting is required. - Experience developing time studies, process flows, and aid in facility layouts. - Someone with demonstrated experience as a Change Agent. - Must be flexible and willing to learn new techniques and as well as adapt to existing best practices. - Must be detail oriented and highly organized. - Must be able to read, write, and speak English language and be understood. - Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).- Knowledge of PLCs programming and any electrical background a plus. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. An Industrial Engineering degree will be considered. Must possess at least 7 years of engineering experience in manufacturing with a focus on CI/Lean.CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid NYS driver’s license. Lean or Six Sigma certifications preferred.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NonePHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Physical activity includes walking, standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching above shoulders and lifting up to 50 pounds.
