Description We are looking for a diligent Payroll Clerk to join our team in Amherst, Massachusetts. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the payroll process, from data entry and verification to paycheck preparation and distribution. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all elements of the payroll process, including verifying employee information and work eligibility status

• Perform bi-weekly payroll processing in a timely manner, ensuring all necessary deductions such as taxes, retirement contributions, and insurance are accurately made

• Compile and verify data from multiple sources like sub-sheets, timesheets, and new or revised contracts

• Prepare and distribute employee paychecks, including managing direct deposits

• Prepare payroll taxes and ensure they are accurately calculated

• Maintain and manage payroll records, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accurate

• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action as needed

• Utilize Microsoft Excel and other software for efficient and accurate payroll processing

• Resolve any payroll inquiries from employees or management

• Ensure compliance with multi-state and union payroll regulations Requirements • Demonstrated experience in payroll management for 101-500 employees

• Proficiency in processing multi-state payroll

• Knowledge of handling payroll for union employees

• Expertise in using Microsoft Excel for payroll computations and data management

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Ability to interpret and apply payroll-related laws and regulations

• Strong communication skills to interact with employees regarding payroll queries

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Experience with payroll software would be an added advantage.
