Craig's Doors Assistant Manager in Amherst, Massachusetts
Craig\'s Doors is a low-barrier, emergency shelter provider. We operate two year-round, 24/7, emergency shelter programs in Amherst and Hadley. We are looking for a full-time Assistant Manager with weekend availability to ensure a member of the management team is available to staff everyday. The Assistant Manager at Craig\'s Doors plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, operational success, and positive atmosphere of our emergency shelter rograms. Reporting to the Site Managers and the Director of Operations & Programs, the Assistant Manager performs both the responsibilities of a Direct Care role and the added duties associated with a supervisory position. The Assistant Manager provides supervisory support to Direct Care staff and operational and administrative support to the Site Manager. Responsibilities: Staff Training and Supervision: Train and supervise Direct Care staff. Provide orientation to shelter policies and procedures and document the completion of staff training through training checklists. Attend weekly staff meetings and lead Direct Care staff meetings as needed. Complete monthly supervisions with Direct Care staff. Provide one-to-one coaching to Direct Care staff to improve skills and build confidence. Operational Oversight: Identify situations requiring the intervention of outside agencies or coordination with Craig?s Doors case managers. Implement guest contracts and temporary program restrictions in coordination with the Site Manager. Approve guest overnight requests as needed. Ensure completion of daily room and/or curfew checks. Manage and facilitate guest access to in-house resources like laundry and showers. Support guests with service and accommodation requests. Provide guests with information on local resources and refer to case managers for additional support. Act as a scheduled on-call manager to provide support to on-shift staff by phone or scheduling contingency. Report to cover unscheduled shifts due to employee callouts or tardiness during scheduled on-call hours. Maintain a safe environment for guests, staff, and volunteers. Oversee facility integrity, ensuring consistent cleaning and sanitizing in all guest and staff areas. Report maintenance needs or property damage to the Facilities team.
