Job Description

Danfoss Ames is seeking a Senior Cost Analyst to help support cost control in the plant through preparation of monthly reporting and analysis. This role will play a key part in supporting the controlling team to develop and implement a framework to improve transparency and reporting standards within the plant. This role will report to the Plant Controller.

Job Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply accounting principles and techniques in all tasks performed. Point out suspected areas of deviations and non-compliance to management for correction.

  • Coordinate US month-end close process.

  • Support the monthly close process by completing assigned tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, reporting and analysis.

  • Review assigned departments to ensure expenses are reported timely and accurately.

  • Analyze price variances, scrap, material usage, and other variances and investigate root cause.

  • Support production team leaders in costing/profitability analysis needs.

  • Support annual budget process and the use of SAP and Business Intelligence reports.

Background/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with an emphasis in Finance/Accounting

  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

  • 5+ years of experience working in the field of Finance/Accounting

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Advanced skills and experience with MS Office- high proficiency with MS Excel required

  • Experience with reporting systems such as SAP, Business Intelligence and HFM

  • Strong analytical skills to investigate and resolve questions with attention to detail

  • Ability to work with a variety of people across the US and globally with a “customer service” mindset.

  • Quick learner who works well in a team environment

  • Flexible- able to meet demands of the business

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Possess good working knowledge of corporate policies and procedures and appropriate internal controls.

  • Ability to interpret accounting theories to implement practical judgement.
