Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Kang Lab is looking for highly motivated and well-organized Postdoctoral Scholar to lead a research project funded by Hevolution. The funded project studies the interface of organelle/tissue communication during aging in the Department of Genetics, Development and Cell Biology at Iowa State University located in Ames, Iowa.
The ideal candidate will have experience in cellular and molecular biology and an interest in using age-related changes in organelle/tissue communication to understand mechanisms of organelle/tissue aging. This position will work primarily in the Department of Genetics, Development and Cell Biology with Dr. Ping Kang, and collaborate closely with other groups. Our work encompasses a wide range of in vitro and in vivo experimental techniques including cell signaling, gene expression or elimination, protein biochemistry, confocal microscopy, drosophila and mouse genetic models. ISU is a highly collaborative environment and our laboratory is involved in collaborations with multiple other research programs within the scientific community including programs in structural biology, small molecule discovery, chemical biology, and epigenetics.
This position will work independently and as part of a team with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students at different levels. Further, this position will supervise and train students in lab techniques and experiments, collect and analyze data, compose manuscripts for publication, and prepare presentations.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Biology, Genetics, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in cellular and molecular biology
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively on a team
• Experience that demonstrates p rotein expression and purification skills
• Experience with protein purification skills for NMR protein structure
