Happy State Bank - a division of Centennial Bank Senior Trust Assistant in AMARILLO, Texas

The Senior Trust Assistant is responsible for assisting customers and employees with a variety of trust department related issues. The employee must become familiar with all trust account files. This position handles the administrative duties for trust accounts, including processing distribution requests for beneficiaries. The Senior Trust Assistant assists trust officers with special projects and operations, as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists officers with account administration and special projects. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

  2. Greets and provides assistance to trust customers and visitors in-person and by phone or email. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

  3. Process trust checks, deposits and other administrative tasks. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

  4. Administer distributions to trust beneficiaries and/or participants. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

  5. Develops proficiency with the Trust accounting system. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  6. Responsible for scanning and filing of paperwork and maintenance of account files. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  7. Provide support for Trust Department Manager, Senior Trust Officers and Trust Officers. This duty is performed as needed, about 10% of the time.

  8. Maintain confidentiality at all times. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

  9. Complete required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

  10. Performs any other related duties as required or assigned. This duty is performed daily.

  11. Regular and good attendance to work. This duty is performed daily.

  12. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily.

  13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
