Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Shift : Dayshift Monday- Friday 8:30am - 5pm. Some Weekends/Evenings.

Coverage Area: Flagler, Volusia, Seminole Orange and Osceola Counties

The value you’ll bring to the team:

The Nursing Mentor serves as a primary orientation and training coordinator for clinical nurses. The Nursing Mentor also coordinates the nursing field preceptor assignments and monitors, observes, and assesses the nurse’s knowledge and skill levels in conjunction with the field preceptor and the nurse.

The role you’ll contribute:

  • Assists in training new nurses in end of life care skills and knowledge, documentation, and organization policies and procedures.

  • Communicates with orientees regularly during orientation period and 3-month evaluation period; makes joint visits within this same time frame.

  • Provides frequent communication and feedback with orientee’s Manager during orientation period and 3-month evaluation period.

  • Reviews the required competency forms with each nurse and preceptor regularly during orientation period and ensures new staff have satisfactorily completed all requirements.

  • Collaborates with Field Preceptors, Patient Care Managers, Admissions Manager and Clinical Education Coordinator to assure individual nursing performance and skill competencies.

  • Completes joint visits and chart reviews with new nurses at scheduled intervals during the 3 months post orientation and provides feedback to the manager.

Minimum qualifications :

  • Associates Degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) including 3 years of hospice experience.

  • A clear/active Florida RN license is required.

  • Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing certification is required or must be obtained within 18 months of hire.

  • BLS.
