Summary/Objective

The Senior Electrical Estimator position is a key representative of Evans General Contractors, LLC and is responsible for leading, managing and providing preconstruction oversight of Electrical systems on all assigned Projects with the goal of delivering quality facilities on schedule and at the most competitive prices. This person will work primarily on projects within our technical core markets: advanced technology, life sciences and manufacturing. They are expected to build effective relationships with team members, external customers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead concept and final design of Electrical systems on technical design-build projects
  • Develop and analyze project criteria, including but not limited to sketches, plans, equipment matrices and preliminary layouts. Develop preliminary design and to determine projected costs.
  • Conduct and oversee conceptual estimating of electrical systems including detailed takeoffs, equipment pricing, etc.
  • Generate value analysis and engineering for electrical systems
  • Solicit and review subcontractor/supplier quotes to validate internal estimates.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of pricing and costs for materials, labor, subcontractors and equipment for all trade disciplines
  • Ability to manage multiple preconstruction projects
  • Development of specific and technical scope of works for electrical equipment purchasing and contracting
  • Review plans and provide constructability feedback of electrical systems
  • Development of electrical specific estimate formats and tools
  • Ability to do electrical shadow estimates to validate budget or pricing Assist Project Team in the development of the construction schedule
  • Consult operations associates on MEP project schedule and assist construction site progress to achieve completion of the Project on-time and on-budget
  • Assist in recruiting, development and retention of MEP associates within preconstruction and operations
  • Assist in development of MEP, Quality and Commissioning programs, checklist and training for the company
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Manage work and inputs from variety of stakeholders
  • Consistent and clear communication with internal and external customers
  • Consistently demonstrate professional credibility, integrity, trust, and commitment
  • Other responsibilities assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction with emphasis in electrical estimating and/or design.
  • Strong technical background and experience preferred
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, with a strong ability to influence decisions of team members, partners and customers
  • Ability to develop concept-level estimates for electrical systems from limited information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organization skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Possess a strong work ethic
