How does this role contribute to our collective success?

This role will work closely with AXIS Property & Casualty underwriters to design, draft and maintain policy forms and endorsements for new and existing Property & Casualty products to ensure that policy terms accurately reflect underwriting intent and are compliant with state regulations. In addition, this role will also work with AXIS Filings team to ensure that all admitted product forms are filed and issued pursuant to approved state filings and with AXIS Product Management team to develop form requirements for implementation in AXIS’s policy issuance system.

This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders and functional areas across AXIS, including underwriting, legal and compliance, actuarial, claims and IT.

The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate an intimate working knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance, including Property, General Liability, Excess Casualty and Commercial Auto.

The position requires a strong sense of individual responsibility, critical thinking and attention to detail.

What will you do in this role?

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively and efficiently draft policy forms to facilitate business objectives within established timelines.

  • Assist in the Product Development process for new products, product re-writes, and endorsements from beginning-to-end.

  • Draft language for new products and product enhancements.

  • Analyze state-specific regulatory requirements.

  • Work with legal and compliance, underwriting, actuarial, claims and operations staff to ensure product, product drafts and amendments meets internal and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist in maintenance of AXIS Forms Library.

  • Conduct research and help provide competitive analysis on products and policy form language.

  • Assist in review of product proposal output and marketing materials.

  • Assist in the delivery of products for filing submissions.

  • Review, respond and negotiate approval of form objections from state insurance departments during the filing submission process.

  • Research general subject matter requests as necessary using on-line resources inclusive of insurance law applications and other available resources.

  • Lead and manage projects related to form development and implementation.

  • Track and report on the status of form related projects.

  • Other projects and duties as required by management.

About You:

What you need to have:

  • Juris Doctor degree with insurance product development experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ Property & Casualty product drafting experience

  • Ability to effectively draft policy wordings to facilitate business objectives

  • Ability to lead and manage projects related to form development and implementation

  • Familiarity with P&C state filing and regulatory requirements

  • Ability to quickly analyze complex problems and create timely solutions

  • Ability to collaborate with various team/departments

  • Strong project management skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications

What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $86,000 - $115,000 (GA). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location. 

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
