Req# 29074 Aultman Health Foundation, ALLIANCE, OH ALLIANCE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL Aultman Health Foundation Casual - As Needed - No Benefits, Day Shift, Variable Posting dates for internal transfers: May 8, 2024, through May 10, 2024 BASIC FUNCTION: Obtain venous and capillary blood samples on an outpatient and inpatient basis for adult, pediatric and newborn patients are performed in all areas of the hospital and nursing home (Community Care Center). Provide phlebotomy services to long term care clients (area nursing homes) as part of the Laboratory Outreach service. JOB DUTIES: Receive physician requests, properly identifying the patient, collect blood specimens from patients, correctly labeling the specimen, and distribute specimens to the laboratory while maintaining the confidentiality of patient records. Accurately perform venipunctures, capillary skin puncture, and bleeding times ensuring proper specimens for testing and patient safety. Distribute the specimens to the proper laboratory area as soon as possible. Stock phlebotomy room and trays in the Lab and Drawing Station. Order, receive and cancel tests and create collection batches utilizing hospital/laboratory information system and the handheld patient identification device. Work rotation of weekends, holidays and variable shifts. May be required to use a personal vehicle to travel to nursing homes and mileage will be reimbursed. Train new students in phlebotomy and orient new employees. Responsible for checking emails and online learning assignments (Relias) on a regular basis. EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE High school graduate or equivalent. Phlebotomy training and experience preferred. The ability to communicate with others in a friendly and professional manner and be able to put them at ease. Demonstrate the ability to work calmly in stressful situations when many people are making requests. Responsible for work that must meet rigid medical standards in performing job duties. Able to adapt to routine work that involves repetitive operations carried out in accordance with standard procedures. Must be computer-literate to complete task(s) as required. Such as MediTech (Hospital Support Software), Halogen (performance appraisal system), Relias (education system), ability to retrieve emails, complete online enrollment for health insurance/benefits and any other programs as assigned PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Able to stand/walk for up to the full scheduled shift per day. * Able to bend to reach items on the floor or bedside level.
