Materials Specialist - Alliance, NE

Pay Rate: $20 plus hr, depending on experience

Location: Alliance, NE

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Must be willing to work various shifts and days, including overnight shifts as required.

Company Overview:

Join our dynamic team in Alliance, NE, as a Materials Specialist. We are looking for a dedicated individual to manage inventory and material logistics in our 24/7 shop environment. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility and supporting our goal of delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control metrics and manage stockouts. Perform daily cycle counts and forecast material needs for inbound and in-shop locomotives.

  • Material Handling: Pull materials for shop use, ensuring they are issued to the correct locomotive with accurate details. Handle large commodity assets and conduct quality control on inbound and outbound shipments.

  • Shipping Coordination: Arrange LTL and expedite shipments, ensuring proper documentation and customs documents are obtained when necessary.

  • Software Utilization: Use multiple software programs to order, receive, ship, and track materials, including handling Hazmat materials.

  • Mechanical Drawings: Read mechanical drawings to determine needed materials.

  • Forklift Operation: Perform daily inspections and operate forklifts to handle materials.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Compile reports on inventory metrics, process sales of materials, and maintain accurate records of material transactions.

  • Warehouse Maintenance: Perform general housekeeping and organization tasks in the warehouse. Process warranty claims and restock warehouse materials.

  • Physical Inventory: Assist with physical inventory counting and ensure accurate material tracking.

  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with a team, respond to material requests from various shops, and ensure accurate material transactions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in logistics or shipping/receiving.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

  • Previous experience operating forklifts and other shop equipment safely.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

  • Ability to work in a warehouse/shop environment and adapt to various shifts.

  • Reliable attendance and a strong team-oriented attitude.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing for long periods and walking on hard, uneven surfaces.

  • Climbing stairs and getting on/off locomotives.

  • Fitting into small or tight spaces as needed.

  • Wearing personal protective equipment (hardhat, steel toe boots, ear protection, eye protection).

  • Performing tasks such as typing and operating a computer.

  • Working overnight shifts and potentially multiple consecutive days.

Pay Details: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
