Overview
The Sr Director, IT Vendor Management is responsible for developing and leading the vendor management strategy to ensure the efficient oversight and management of IT vendor relationships and performance. This role includes working closely with Sourcing and Value Stream Leads in establishing strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, ensuring quality and performance standards, and mitigating risks. This is a senior leadership role that sits within the IT organization working directly with Sourcing/Supply Chain leads.
NOTE: This position is hybrid to one of our local offices in: Allentown, PA; Louisville, KY or Providence, RI . LI-Hybrid
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive vendor management strategy aligned with the company's goals.
Identify and establish relationships with key suppliers including identification of strategic, emerging, and transactional partnerships, guiding relationship leads on best practices in relationship management
Develop vendor management scorecards, establish review methodologies, and define relationship leads for IT
Provide ongoing support for relationship owners in conducting vendor management performance reviews, vendor evaluations, and life-cycle management of the vendor relationship.
Provide the technology terms and considerations, conditions, and pricing recommendations with vendors to secure the best possible deals and engagements structures that leverage strategic partnerships.
Manage Managed Service Provider (MSP) relationships and performance
Manage contract renewals, amendments, and terminations to minimize IT costs and maximize value to the company
Develop and implement vendor performance metrics and KPIs.
Conduct regular performance reviews and audits of vendors to ensure compliance with agreements and performance standards.
Address and resolve vendor performance issues promptly.
Identify potential risks in the vendor supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, pricing, and supply chain developments.
Collaborate with internal departments, including finance, legal, and operations, to align vendor management activities with company objectives.
Act as a point of escalation for vendor-related issues.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.; Master’s degree preferred but not required.
Experience
10-15 years of experience in vendor management, procurement, MSP oversight, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of successful vendor negotiations and contract management.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in vendor management software and tools.
Strong understanding of market trends and industry best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) would be a plus.
Utilities industry experience.
