The Office of Drug and Alcohol at Lehigh County is currently seeking a driven and dedicated Drug & Alcohol Case Management Specialist to join our team! DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Drug & Alcohol Case Management Specialist, you will ensure that Lehigh County residents have access to drug and alcohol services by identifying, referring, and authorizing appropriate care. This includes assessing client needs, determining their level of care, reviewing their service plans, and facilitating their treatment when necessary to address their substance abuse issues. Duties you will be responsible for include, but are not limited to the following: Receiving referrals and managing the process of sending the referral on to the appropriate provider Ensuring referrals have been assessed and that providers and referring agencies have followed mandated timeframes and guidelines for assessment, authorization, and treatment entry Gathering clinical and other information resulting from the assessment for initial authorization of services for drug and alcohol problems Collaborating with the assessment and treatment provider to develop, implement, and update a comprehensive service plan based on assessment results Determining appropriate funding arrangements and authorizing or recommending services Continuously monitoring client treatment, mental health needs, medications, housing, and financial services Ensuring client follow-up, preparing written reports, and maintaining client records

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Drug and Alcohol Case Management Specialist Trainee; or A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Dependency, Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Nursing or a related field; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, or Schuylkill counties. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
