Insight Global Secret Network Engineer in Alexandria, Virginia

Job Description

The IT Support Team is responsible for designing and implementing the network infrastructure supporting successful development and deployment of satellite ground station software. The organizations' engineers and administrators apply their knowledge of software, operating systems, networks, databases, architectures, and tools to improve the maintainability and operability of software systems. The Senior Network Engineer will help continue expansion into cloud-based infrastructure with a specific focus on ensuring the stability and integrity of data, wireless, and voice network services. The network engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and developing local area networks and wide area networks across the organization. In addition, the Sr. Network Engineer will participate in installations, infrastructure upgrade(s), monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also champion analysis and timely resolution of network hardware and software problems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  * Develop, evaluate options, and deliver engineered network solutions for both corporate use and customer delivery

  * Assess the current state of network architecture and identify areas for improvement

  * Design and implement scalable and reliable network solutions to meet current and future business needs

  * Support firewalls, routers, switches, LANs, WANs, site-to-site VPNs, remote-access VPNs and wireless networks as required

  * Develop, document, communicate, and oversee architecture and design products for new network capabilities, in partnership with software and systems engineers, to be procured and implemented at corporate and customer locations

  * Assist in program engineering, including enterprise configuration management, risk management, trade assessments, procurement decisions, and the development of training and documentation to sustain new network capabilities

  * Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. Adopt and implement architectural best practices and frameworks to include the enhanced security measures to protect the network infrastructure from cyber threats and vulnerabilities

  * Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry

  * Monitor network performance, test and troubleshoot problem areas as needed

  * Create and/or revise documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records

  * Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and supplemental training plans for system administration, usage, and disaster recovery

  * Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, customer site connectivity, fax machines, and other network appliances

  * In support of security engineering, perform secondary system security audits, and system backups and recovery

  * Document, develop, and mature quality assurance measures for physical and virtual network infrastructure

Salary: $100-200k

Skills and Requirements

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance, with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

  • 12+ years of experience designing, implementing, managing and supporting enterprise level IP networks that include support of a distributed desktop computing environment.

  • Excellent hardware and network troubleshooting experience.

  • Extensive application support experience with network monitoring and analysis software.

  • AWS experience (this is huge).

  • Experienced with Cisco, or Palo Alto, or Juniper networks.

  • Enterprise network experience 500-1000 nodes or better.

  • Solid architectural overview of networking. - Pentagon or military experience (structured environments). null
