Crew Supervisor - Cathodic Protection, Gas

Annual Salary Range: $40,158.77 - $48,181.85 Grade: 24 (Employee: 7% on your current salary, whichever is greater; or 10.5% on your current salary, whichever is greater, if position is 3 grades or higher than current position) Appointment to a position in the classified service shall be at the minimum of the corresponding pay range unless otherwise approved.

Examination is announced to establish an employment list to fill vacancies in the Gas Distribution department and future vacancies as they occur to supervise the installation, maintenance, and repairs of gas distribution and metering systems, as well as performing manual and hazardous work to monitor, maintain, and improve cathodic protection systems for the gas lines and appurtenances, ensuring reliable delivery of natural gas fuel to all City of Alexandria customers. Receives, reviews, and responds to work orders; assigns projects and develops plans for completion of work. Performs examinations and maintenance on shallow well anode beds and appurtenances; locates underground electrical shorts in gas system; installs anodes and test stations. Provides advanced customer service: receives, reviews, analyzes, and responds to difficult customer complaints or problems. Coordinates and performs any field work or troubleshooting required with SCADA System Operators on SCADA system. This position is subject to 24-hour call.

Minimum Applicant Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the technical maintenance, construction, and repair of gas distribution systems including corrosion control and cathodic protection systems; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must possess a valid drivers license.

Must possess a valid State of Louisiana drivers license upon appointment to the position and a valid State of Louisiana Class D drivers license within 60 days.

Must obtain certifications as required by the Office of Pipeline Safety within six months of hire as well as any other certifications as deemed necessary.

Work Schedule:

40 hours per week may be subject to duty week and 24-hour call

This examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, a performance test or any combination thereof deemed necessary to adequately screen and rank applicants. Examination notices will be sent out via email with a testing date, time, and location.
