Annual Salary Range: $33,219.89 - $39,855.19 Grade: 19 (Employee: 7% on your current salary, whichever is greater; or 10.5% on your current salary, whichever is greater, if position is 3 grades or higher than current position)

Appointment to a position in the classified service shall be at the minimum of the corresponding pay range unless otherwise approved.

Examination is announced to establish an employment list to fill 1 vacancy in the Code Enforcement Department and future vacancies as they occur to

perform technical tasks to enforce the Code of Ordinances and laws of the City, to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations not enforced by the Police Department, to investigate and determine the nature of violation, and to prepare legal documentation that includes violation information and required course of action. Performs tasks to enforce laws of the City Code of Ordinances; ensures compliance with all rules and regulations not enforced by the Police Department.

Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures; prepares legal documentation for the notification of property owners found in violation of local ordinances; locates properties on the map and performs various tasks involving court-related proceedings. Makes court appearances to provide witness testimony as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years of experience in codes enforcement or work requiring moderate interaction with the public; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license . Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana drivers license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.

Kind of Examination

This examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, a performance test or any combination thereof deemed necessary to adequately screen and rank applicants. Examination notices will be sent out via email with a testing date, time, and location. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their previous training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment.
