VCA Animal Hospitals Vet Assistant - Ophthalmology in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Are you looking to be a part of a dynamic hospital team, while having the support and resources to push yourself?

VCA Veterinary Care Animal Hospital & Referral Center, or just VCA VetCare to our friends, is located 5,312 feet above sea level* in beautiful, fun, and (if you ask us) highly underrated Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our hospital is growing by leaps and bounds and we are currently seeking experienced technicians to join our Internal Medicine team!

We are located at 8850 Holly Ave NE, unit K Albuquerque, NM 87122

Why You Should Consider Us?

At VetCare, your passion for medicine and compassion for pets and people is matched with a commitment to your professional growth.

  • You will enjoy exposure to a diverse and stimulating caseload, employ the most advanced imaging and monitoring tools, and tap into the expertise of more than 4,500+ doctors, including 600+ boarded specialists.

  • You will sharpen your skills—and even learn some new techniques—and explore career options that only VCA can offer, such as continuing education, transfer, specialization, and leadership opportunities.

  • We are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and want to be a place where a diverse mix of talented people want to come, stay and do their best work.

What will you achieve?

The VetCare ophthalmology team fixes eyes. The nursing team and ophthalmologists restore vision to patients who have lost it; they save vision when patients are in danger of going blind; and sometimes they just make sure a pet’s eyes do not hurt any more.

In service of this goal, we use a wide array of sophisticated equipment (surgical microscopes!) and specialized medication, as well as the indispensable TLC. There are few experiences cooler than watching a cataract surgery in person, but one of those is seeing a patient for their first recheck visit after starting their new eye medication and seeing the tail wag because they feel so much better! Come experience it for yourself!

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine starting from the NURSING staff—with the expertise and technical expertise to make them happen. You should have the ability to function well within a team dynamic, working alongside a variety of personalities in a fast-paced environment. In addition, you should be solution-oriented, and seek continued growth and improvement, both as an individual, and as a team. You will be dependable and timely, with flexibility in scheduling, up to and including weekends and holidays. Ideally, you will be credentialed or equivalent experience, but we are willing to train the right candidate, as we have a successful training program and access to 1000’s of training resources!
