Space Dynamics Laboratory Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer in Albuquerque, New Mexico

If so, the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking an experienced and organized Senior Systems Engineer to come in on the ground floor and stand up the nation’s future nuclear weapon systems. The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the architecture, technical trades, risk tracking, requirements t racking and development, and the technical progress and execution of the program. They must have the ability to understand the customer’s vision and work with the team to translate that vision into a technical solution, work with program management to ensure technical requirements and performance are achieved, support interactions with customers, and provide technical support to related proposal efforts. This is not a cookie cutter assignment, this is an in-the-weeds Systems Engineering effort that will range from interacting with PhD scientists to upper level managers and act as a SME resource to Junior Systems Engineers both within the government and at SDL.
Required Qualifications:
At least a B.S. degree in a related technical field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering)
7+ years of relevant Systems Engineering or advanced degree(s) in a related field
Familiarity with DoD requirements processes and subsystems design
Experience working with both scientists and engineers
Excellent communication skills
Ability to present clearly and succinctly to customers
Must be a U.S. citizen with a current active security clearance
Must be able to travel 25%
Concrete examples of technical mentorship experience
It would be even better if you have:
Knowledge about the U.S. strategic weapons enterprise
Knowledge about hypersonic reentry vehicles
Experience with CAMEO System Modeler
Experience with space hardware development and testing
Experience working with Special Program Offices
Understanding of risks and risk mitigations for DoD systems
Experience with Quality Assurance on DoD programs
Experience with implementing DoD Safety Requirements
