ASRC Federal Holding Company Mission Assurance Project Engineer in Albuquerque, New Mexico

ASRC Federal System Solutions (AFSS) requires a full-time Project Engineer to support the Rocket Systems Launch Program (RSLP) Mission Assurance (RSLP MA) contract at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque NM. Th purpose of RSLP is to develop and launch small and medium unmanned rockets for the U. S. Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command and its customers.

The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the mission assurance effort for assigned missions, serving as the primary point of contact between the RSLP MA team and the RSLP customer at Kirtland AFB, NM.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary POC between RSLP MA and the RSLP customer. The RSLP MA team includes both AFSS personnel as well as subcontractors such as SAIC.

  • Execute assigned mission assurance support per RSLP MA performance work statement requirements.

  • Align team resources to meet program objectives. Work to resolve schedule and resource challenges.

  • Create and maintain a project plan for assigned missions, outlining program objectives, schedule, required resources and financial baselines.

  • Provide weekly (and as required) financial inputs to the RSLP MA program manager that summarizes the financial status for the program.

  • Serve as the primary POC between the RSLP MA team and other government agencies and contractors supporting the mission. Agencies include the Launch Services Contractor (LSC), the launch range, and payload customers.

  • Support all program design reviews and meetings as necessary to support the customer and to execute our mission assurance function. Ensure RSLP MA personnel are deployed to support mission reviews.

  • Provide rocket launch support as well as field site support for assigned missions. Estimated travel is less than 25% but travel to launch locations for periods of 1-2 months may be required.

  • Interface with RSLP MA personnel that provide oversight for processing of excess ballistic missile motors.

  • Provide input to RSLP MA management regarding management of subcontracts for RSLP MA activities.

  • Develop and maintain accurate cost baselines and provide inputs to required proposals.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with contractor and government counterparts.

  • Demonstrated high initiative, proactive, self-starter required.

  • Experience developing basic program level planning documents.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) to perform technical writing, editing, and document formatting.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors of Science degree, preferably in an engineering science.

  • 5 years or more aerospace experience required.

  • Experience in the design or development of launch systems is desired.

  • Program management and/or project management experience desired.

  • The ideal candidate will have experience working with the DoD. High preforming entry level with experience in Propulsion/Rocket club/competition and/or relevant graduate studies would be considered.

  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance required.
