We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Budget Analyst in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role is within the financial sector and will involve budgetary oversight for assigned department budgets from various fund sources and grant periods.

The Budget Analyst will report to the Financial Controller, providing budgetary oversight for assigned department budgets from various fund sources and grant periods. Key tasks include ensuring adequate budget monitoring, analysis, and projections, assisting in maintaining an accurate accounting system for financial report generation, and overseeing the double entry accounting system. They'll also take responsibility for recording check entries, guiding accounting personnel in monthly cash balancing, preparing journal entries, and ensuring fiscal records' availability for required audits. Furthermore, they'll partake in training sessions and meetings, and provide financial analysis to decision-makers, using accounting software and MS Office. They'll also assist with contract management, ensuring strict compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Requirements

• BA in Accounting or related field of study plus 6 years of experience, or HSE/HS diploma plus 10 years of experience in the accounting field

• Must have demonstrated experience with computerized accounting system, accounting, compliance of grants and contracts.

• Knowledge of local and state government and structure.

• Knowledge of administrative and management techniques and concepts,

• Background in accounting or financial procedures is required.

• Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices, and department functions and procedures.

• Possess good human relations skills.

• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

• Ability to exhibit emotional maturity and good judgment, to include high standards of moral and speech
