SUMMARY:
Lead the strategic implementation of a variety of technology and operations capability to modernize the energy grid. Manage cross-functional, and matrix reporting project teams, engaging with stakeholders, solutions providers, and overseeing all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery for the grid modernization program. Possess a deep understanding of grid modernization principles, program management, and regulatory compliance to ensure the successful deployment of cutting-edge technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and execute a comprehensive program plan for delivering on grid modernization objectives, including but not limited to; integration of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), advanced distribution management systems, and distribution automation capabilities.
Lead and synchronize grid modernization initiatives, seamlessly integrating them with ongoing projects such as Annual Operating Plans (AOP) critical infrastructure upgrades and Department of Energy (DOE) grant programs, ensuring cohesive execution and maximizing synergies across all related activities
Align program objectives with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Oversee scope, budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and quality assurance for the program.
Ensure timely delivery of milestones and maintain program documentation.
Coordinate with internal teams, strategic partners, regulators, utilities, and solutions providers to ensure alignment.
Lead presentations and provide updates to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Collaborate with IT, Operations Technology (OT), solutions providers, and operational teams to integrate technologies into existing grid systems.
Ensure interoperability with other grid modernization technologies.
Ensure the program adheres to all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Support regulatory filings, participate as a witness in regulatory proceedings, and internal/external audits as necessary.
Lead organizational change efforts to facilitate smart grid technology adoption and user training.
Develop communication plans to address customer and community concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Seven to Ten years of experience in the energy or utilities sector, with a focus on grid modernization or AMI deployment. Proven track record of managing large, complex programs with multiple stakeholders.
Professional Engineer license in New Mexico preferred
Master's degree preferred.
Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in delivering executive-level presentations and reports
Ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
Ability to effectively listen and get clarification to respond to a wide-range of questions
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Proficient in budget forecasting, financial modeling, and ROI analysis
Ability to analyze data from metering systems to assess performance and trends
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project)
Experience with AMI platforms and tools, SCADA systems, distribution automation and data analytics software
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
Skilled in identifying and mitigating program risks
Analytical mindset to troubleshoot technical issues and optimize program outcomes
Ability to synthesize complex information and provide actionable recommendations
