DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Corrections Employment and Vocational Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in providing employment and skills development opportunities to inmates within the correctional institution. Your responsibilities will include managing inmate jobs, as well as academic and vocational program assignments for which inmates are compensated. Additionally, you will be tasked with determining job vacancies, conducting interviews, and thoroughly reviewing all inmates before they are assigned to work details. Your role will also involve providing in-depth vocational counseling to facilitate employment and skill development opportunities for the inmates. Furthermore, you will coordinate and implement the inmate payroll and compensation system, ensuring that all processes are carried out effectively and fairly.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $58,035 (before taxes).
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

QUALIFICATIONS:  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
    • Two years of experience as a Corrections Employment and Vocational Assistant; or
    • Two years of para-professional experience in obtaining and evaluating vocational or employment information; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Other Requirements:
    • ?Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    • You must pass a background investigation.
