Job Summary

The Extension Program Coordinator works with aspects of marketing to develop strategic decisions to ensure Extension and 4-H brand images are recognizable to the public, are well represented online and are consistent offline in print, radio, or television. The Extension Program Coordinator works collaboratively with Extension staff to develop targeted strategies, identifying the programming needs of the unit and then work collaboratively to address those needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Marketing and Promotion of Extension Activities
    • This position under the leadership of the Unit County Director determines promotional methods, compiles information, and provides delivery of materials and reports to enhance the visibility of University of Illinois Extension.
    • Assists with the development of marketing plans and goals to recruit participants for Extension educational activities; develops advertising and publicity for the activities, which may include newsletters, fliers, displays, and web-based content.
    • Creates a photo file of pictures and videos from local activities/programs to utilize when creating marketing and program reports.
  • Training, Networking and Collaboration
    • Participates in program development as requested in all Extension program areas in collaboration with the County Director, Extension Educators, other staff and volunteers. This includes working with unit and statewide staff in the identification of needs and priority issues, and the development of program opportunities to address those needs.
    • Networks and/or collaborates with local advisory groups and community organizations to assess needs and develops educational activities to address those needs.
    • Facilitates program related meetings and workshops.
    • Assists with obtaining financial support (e.g. seeking sponsors and fundraising) for programs or activities. May also be required to collect and record registration fees.
  • Program Reporting
    • Disseminates educational information provided by Extension professionals to the public and to stakeholders; helping to coordinator the gathering of information needed to complete the annual impact report.
    • Assists in program evaluation and utilizes that data to improve ongoing programs, or to justify discontinuing programs.
    • Compiling the media list and cont cts for use in marketing programs as well as for Federal Civil Rights Compliance.
    • Assist with the creation of annual report for the Unit, as well as presentations.
    • Submits all required activity and program reports.
  • Other
    • Complies with Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity policies and guidelines in all aspects of University of Illinois Extension work.
    • Perform other related duties that are within this job category as assigned.
    • Participates in staff development and professional development opportunities as prescribed to maintain professional competence, pending funding. These will include local, regional, and state.

Additional Physical Demands

To perform the functions of this position, the employee will be required to perform work both within an office and outside in the communities that are served and must have the capability to travel from one location to the other in a timely fashion. Employee is responsible for securing personal transportation. A valid driver\'s license is preferred. Some work will be required during evenings and/or weekends. When working, the employee may be exposed to a variety of environmental factors to include, but not limited to, hot or cold weather, exposure to noise and allergens, and uneven ground.
