Actalent Controls Technician in Albany, Oregon

Job Title: Controls TechnicianJob Description

As a Controls Technician, you'll be a crucial part of our controls team providing engineering support, particularly during the weekends. In the absence of engineering controls support, machinery downtime can extend unnecessarily due to the maintenance team's limited access to the plc code and electrical/controls experience. Your role involves being readily available across plants to troubleshoot issues, manage nuisance alarms, and ensure machinery and equipment are operating as intended. You'll be the go-to person for the union workers, equipped with guides, resources, and SOPs to handle common issues. You'll also be expected to work on back log projects when not troubleshooting, requiring you to operate with minimal supervision. Your primary responsibilities include maintaining and troubleshooting PLCs on all industrial control equipment and supporting SCADA systems. Additionally, you'll communicate with vendors and outside contractors to ensure proper installation, develop machine control systems, and document system developments. You'll also be involved in writing machine control software and presenting project status and information to various stakeholders.

Hard Skills

  • Hands on Troubleshooting

  • PLC Modification (Allen Bradley, DeltaV is a plus)

  • Understanding of Industrial Machinery

  • Basic Hydraulic and Pneumatic Understanding

  • Design and Develop Machine Control Systems

  • Develop System Documentation

  • Write Machine Control Software

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 18 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Albany, Oregon.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing environment that could have varying temperatures. The candidate must be willing to work hands-on and be safety-focused. The work schedule is Friday to Monday, from 6AM to 2PM, working 4 10-hour shifts.
