Duties Description Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 2, SG18, within the Digital Transformation Office, Digital Engineering Bureau, Engineering Services Section, the Student Assistant will have the opportunity to further develop their technical and analytical skills through hands-on participation in real world transformational projects that benefit NYS residents. Specific duties include, but not limited to: • Transform software designs and specifications into high functioning code using full-stack programming languages such as Angular, ECMA JavaScript, Microsoft .NET C#; • Collaborate in small project teams to develop modern public-facing, mobile-first applications that support multiple languages and meet NYS accessibility standards; • Conduct independent technology research and present findings; • Implement working proof of concept code components and document results and recommendations; • Prepare periodic written reports to inform supervisor of status of work and to elicit guidance on changes in approach when warranted; • Participate in team meetings and work with users and other ITS staff to discuss and design IT solutions based on program requirements.

Minimum Qualifications • Must be a US citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States• Must be 18 years of age or older• Must be currently attending a New York State college, university or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State• Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year’s worth of academic credits over a more extended period of time may qualify part-time students) OR currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program• Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or equivalent to a C.
