Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Software Engineer/Developer will contribute to the development of applications and processes that support the NYS Cancer Registry; assist development team in implementing new or improved functionality; maintain and contribute to activities for applications that support automated communication between the Registry and its partners; and perform other appropriate related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and two years of computer programming, database design/development, or systems analysis; OR four years of such experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated proficiency with Java web applications and with relational databases including Oracle. Experience with gathering requirements from customers. Experience participating in software code reviews. Experience documenting custom software applications. Experience testing software applications.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
