The Interventional Radiology Technologist within the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) has a key role in providing quality care to patients requiring a wide variety of procedural services. The variety of interventional procedures offered at AMC within the fields of Interventional Radiology, Endovascular Neurosurgery, and Vascular Surgery is unique in the Capital District and as a result has allowed us to develop a regional and national reputation for excellence. The conditions treated in VIR at AMC include but are not limited to peripheral arterial disease (angiography, stent placement, atherectomy), portal hypertension (TIPS), cancer (radioembolization, chemoembolization, port placement), DVT and PE (thrombolysis, thrombectomy), trauma (embolization), aortic aneurysms (endograft placement and revision), dialysis interventions (fistulagrams, angioplasty, declotting procedures catheter placement), stroke, and cerebral aneurysms.

The VIR Technologist works collaboratively with all members of the team to create diagnostic images, engage in hands-on participation as a procedural assistant, and develop relationships with staff and patients to provide everyone with a safe and positive experience. VIR technologists practice and enforce the radiation safety measures in New York State Department of health code part 16 and support teaching and continued learning for themselves and others as technology evolves. Full time days and on call responsibilities are required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as outlined in the annual competency assessment. Satisfactory completion of an appropriately approved School for the modality of hire as well as registration/ registry eligible in modality hired and licensed by the state of New York if required.

CPR certification is required.

License - New York State

EDUCATION:

Must be a graduate of an approved professional academic imaging program and must hold an Associate or Applied Science Degree (AS or AAS), or Diploma, in X-ray. Must hold current New York State registration or possess a limited permit to practice in the State of New York and by registered by the ARRT.

EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience is helpful. As an academic institution, we are well equipped and excited about training enthusiastic new graduates.
